PADDLE BRAVE Campground is located on the banks of the south branch of the Ausable river. An abundance of public hunting land is all around us. But for the angler, the south branch is a famous Trout stream with a lot of history. The world famous Mason Wilderness tract is just moments downstream from PADDLE BRAVE. George Mason was one of the founders of Trout Unlimited. The stream offers a challenge to all who wade between its banks. There are Brook Trout and you'll see an occasional Rainbow, but the river is dominated by Brown Trout. There are stretches of river that are fly fishing only and there are areas that are for catch-and-release. So, if you're going to try your luck at landing a trout, please read your Michigan Fishing Guide for all of the updated rules and regulations. We now carry a large supply of Fishing Supplies in our store, including a variety of tied flies.
